Sheep problems!

Last night another hogg lambed, she was having problems to we ended up taking her to the vets in Settle.  Her lamb was born dead.  So this morning we got a spare lamb to mother onto her from a farmer friend who lives up the Dale near the bottom of Pen-y-ghent.  He has really struggled these last couple of weeks with the snow and cold and still has sixteen sheep unaccounted for - probably burried in the still deep snow drifts.   The lamb we collected is now with his new mum, after wetting him in warm water and rubbing him onto the dead lamb so he smelled the same, the sheep is now quite fond of her adopted offspring and they even look-a-like!

We went for a walk earlier today, the picture below of Ingleborough is taken from near the Thornton in Lonsdale Church.  The grass isn't growing yet, it looks frost and wind burned, nothing much for the sheep to eat.  There are celandines and primroses are in flower in the sheltered hedge sides.
