Nearly Lambing time

The first sheep are due to lamb mid February, they are all inside now and have been worm drenched, these next few weeks they will be vaccinated with a clostridial and pasteurella vaccine which will help pass on immunity to their lambs for certain types of pneumonia, tetnus etc.

They have been scanned too, with a good lambing percentage of 198%, which means fortunately there are not as many triplets due, as last year like many farmers we had so many triplets we were feeding lots of spare/pet lambs!  The sheep having triplets are in different pens as they receive more provin than the others.

At Young Farmers we have been busy these last few months with a self-defence eveing, defibrillator training, ice skating, organised a local domino rally, stock judging and a 'pallet challenge' which is making an item out of old pallets such as tables, chairs etc aswell as attending social events that other YFC clubs organised such as the 'Winter Blues Do' at Gisburn Auction and the Bachelors Ball at Shap Wells in Cumbria and the Bolton-by-Bowland Christmas Cracker do.

Some of the sheep happily relaxing inside...
