Late Summer

We have just cut grass for a second crop of big silo bales, it will be baled probably tomorrow.  With all the rain we have had the grass has started growing in abundance, so the sheep are getting fitter ready for 'tupping' time.  There are just a handful of fat lambs left now, a few we will take to a local slaughter house instead of selling them through the auction.  These will be sold as meat to a couple of friends and family and put into our freezer.

At Young Farmers I won the area 'Semple Trophy' for gaining the most points in indoor judging at a local event last week.  Our club also held a mini-rally this week, where I won the best decorated swiss roll with my Dachshund creation.

Yesterday James, a friend and I went to Crabtree Farm around 10 miles from the site to do some clay pigeon shooting   Crabree farm is open twice a week and offers tuition and gun hire etc with a suitable gun license.  Then on Wednesday next week our local YFC club are having their annual clay pigeon shooting evening here, where we will be introducing some of the younger club members to clay pigeon shooting.         Photo my decorated Swiss roll.
